Superbar stuck on top? Nope.

January 9th, 2009 · Windows

In Windows 7, the new Superbar is awesome IMO.  However the Taskbar Properties Control Panel has removed the “Keep the taskbar on top of other windows” option and made it on by default.  This also results in maximized windows not being able to cover the taskbar.  If you prefer to use the Win key to bring the Taskbar forward and don’t care if it’s covered up, and want the screen real estate, this post is for you.

New Program: Google Chrome Portable

January 8th, 2009 · PortableApps, Programming

If you haven’t tried Google Chrome, you should.  It’s a small, fast, lightweight browser.  It’s lacking in features, but its focus on speed and security make it perfect for portable usage, in my opinion.

I have made an installer and launcher.  There are some limitations with running a local and remote Chrome at the same time (most notably, they must be the same version number) but that in itself should be a rare occurance.

Download Google Chrome Portable here.

For a changelog and some other bits of useful info, see my PortableApps.com post.

Software Picks: VirtualBox

December 18th, 2008 · Software Picks

I should try to write a post everyday, and today I was messing around with VirtualBox. I also should write some new software picks, and I want to try out Windows Live Writer for this post. So here we go!

Edit: Windows Live Writer totally broke all the HTML in my post. So yeah I think I’m done with that.

First we have SoundSchemeManager (download), which aims to make it easier to make and share sound schemes online through standard .REG files.  Any changes made should take effect as soon as you click Save to Registry. [Read more →]

WordPress 2.7

December 16th, 2008 · Website

I’ve updated to WordPress 2.7. The Admin interface is much nicer and easier to use now! Also I hear WordPress can now update itself, so no more ssh -> wget -> tar -> cp -> rm loops for me! 🙂

Hopefully I’ll get some more content on here soon, the latest beta of Windows Live Writer looks nice and works with my blog, not to mention this “QuickPress” thing in the new WordPress. Also I have made a bunch of new little programs I need to post and add to my resume portfolio which I will hopefully do soon.

Small Update

November 15th, 2008 · Programming, Website

I updated my directory listing script to support webkit rounded borders (IE Safari and Chrome users will now see them!) as well as the expected standard when all browsers support it…

It’s available at the top under Projects.

I need to blog more often, but here’s a quick catch-up summary: I like the Windows 7 new taskbar, though it rips off Apple’s Dock a bit much in functionality, who cares.  Been playing the Left 4 Dead demo, I love it, can’t wait for the full thing Tuesday, missed out on exploiting the “be a zombie” glitch before Valve patched it.  Still playing lots of TF2.

Still don’t have a job, grr.

Icons!

October 22nd, 2008 · Programming

It’s hard finding good icons for use in my apps that I can use freely. I happened upon a very good set right here. Only flaw is that they’re all in 16×16… no bigger versions.  However I have already gone and updated EasyScreenshot.NET with some icons from the set.

I should mention I found these thanks to Garry’s Mod‘s use of them.

Hello

September 15th, 2008 · Website

My little toy is getting some attention lately.  First 4chan, and now Kotaku.  I think I saw it used on YTMND but I can’t be 100% certain.

Sooo… hi everyone visitiing.  You all have probably used more bandwidth in a week than my site has ever seen before… so thanks.  If you’re here that probably means you navigated one level up from my kill notification generator out of curiosity, so let me be your tour guide. [Read more →]
