Grab from the projects page. Fixed DefaultData and Portable Passwords, new versions of Chrome.

It takes FOREVER for me just to update the Chrome versions. I need to make some scripts or something for next time.

New Chrome Portable, New Chrome Extension

Not just a version bump this time, but mostly small changes. I’m experimenting with Chrome SxS mode which disables the “default browser” feature (so, ideal for GCP) and uses some different registry keys I have to hook. Strangely if I don’t hook the non-Chrome-SxS keys too, Chrome breaks, so I have to hook them all. Oh well.

I also built a version for Chrome Canary itself (which is what Chrome SxS mode was made for) so you can try Google Chrome Portable with a bleeding edge build. Won’t help with my irregular update schedule I’m afraid, lol.

I also made another Chrome extension for fun, check it out. I got a lot accomplished this weekend, so back to One Number work for me. Maybe I can get a new build out soon, I might just push out what I have as 1.5 without any updates to services (supported websites) before working on new and updated services for 2.0.

I have been quite inactive lately and I apologize. New job takes up lots of time, the rest of the time all I feel like doing is Team Fortress 2…

But right now here’s what I’ve been working on:

One Number is moving along, I have made a new framework that allows for much greater control over enabled/disabled services. Just have to add a few features and a few new services and the next version will be done. I may work on this some this weekend.
New version of Google Chrome Portable to bump version numbers of the downloaded Google Chrome. (Links below)
I found a bunch of my apps don’t work properly on 64-bit machines, I hacked together a quick fix for a couple but AppCompactor still crashes randomly when you try to compact more than one item (help in tracking this down would be welcome). For a workaround right now you can try using this tool to force 32-bit mode on any of my apps that are crashing in 64-bit. For EasyScreenshot.net you can just disable PrintScreen emulation to work around it.

I’ve released new versions of Google Chrome Portable and my One Number extension for Google Chrome.

Of note is that with this release, the Google Chrome Extension Gallery will now work with Beta and Dev builds. Have fun, and be sure to try One Number!

Google Chrome Portable Changelog:

Updated Dev to 4.0.266.0 and Beta to 4.0.249.30. Google Chrome Extension gallery is live!
Installer now shows the version of Chrome being downloaded.
Updated the sample INI with some new notes.
msvcr100.dll beta 2 is no longer required by the NSIS plugin. 200kb has been shaved off the launcher.
Changes to Portable Passwords to improve security and prevent possible vulnerabilities. If you were previously using Portable Passwords you will need to import your passwords to Chrome before updating, see the sample INI for notes on how to keep your saved passwords.
Fixed bug in NSIS plugin where memory was freed twice (oops).
Added EncryptPortablePasswords switch to INI, so you can choose to store saved passwords in plaintext. This may be useful if you already use an encryption solution such as TrueCrupt to protect your PortableApps and have no need for additional protection. This is also removes the need for a master password.
Installer window no longer shows. DialogEx is used instead for the master password prompt.
Tidied up some things in the launcher code (all language strings are in the appropriate NSH now).
Updated to PA.c Installer 1.0.1.

One Number Changelog:

Hopefully fixed Google App Domain support for GMail, added for GWave. Still “Not tested” quality, please give feedback.
Already read messages will no longer be shown in Google Voice preview.
GMail and Google Voice options to check for unread messages in all folders/labels, not just the Inbox.
You can now hide individual services’ unread counts from the main toolbar button.
Fixed bug where services could stop updating.

Another new Google Chrome Portable!

I’ve been working on other stuff too, really! Just trying to get the bugs that people report to me out of the way…

Biggest change is the Portable Passwords feature. It’s opt-in so you’ll need to use the INI to enable it since it creates a bit of a hassle (you need to enter a master password on startup, to keep your passwords safe).

Minor update to fix up the source code for another official PortableApps.com release. Other than updating Stable and Dev channel versions, no changes anyone will notice.

I made a load of changes this time around.

Here’s the main changes for this version:

Updated Stable to 3.0.195.32, Beta to 4.0.223.16, Dev to 4.0.237.0
Using new versions based on launcher versions rather than Google Chrome versions.
Default locations for Beta and Dev builds changed to “GoogleChromePortableTest” and “GoogleChromePortableDev” to fit with PAF.
Fixed bug where themes would stop working when GCP’s path or drive letter changed.
Added support for PortableApps.com Menu language selection. Set UsePAMLanguage to false in the INI to use the user-selected language in Chrome instead.
On request of PA community, did more agressive cleanup of registry keys and directories left behind after quitting.
Backup and restore local Chrome’s unique identifier information used for collecting usage data.
Updated launcher crash cleanup guide.

New Google Chrome Portable

To celebrate the inclusion of Google Chrome Portable in the PortableApps.com official apps list… I’ve, um, started working on it again and fixed all reported bugs.

Downloads: Stable/Beta | Dev

Fixed a particularly nasty bug where RunLocally and CacheInTemp were always forced on. Also themes now work properly between sessions.

[Edit: Update downloads to remove nsexec which some av products falsely label as malware.]

[Edit: Updated Dev build to *.223.11 which fixes a crash bug with RSS feed extensions.]
